Since neither the Slovak Republic nor Ukraine had a formalized CBRN security and safety education and training system before the implementation of the project, the goal of the project partners is to develop, formalize and test such system in both countries.

Specific activities that will contribute to achieving this goal are:

• study visits to countries with a functional and effective system of fight against illegal handling of CBRN materials and with an effective and consistent form of education and training in this area.  These study visits are designed to USA and Finland.
• 6 workshops with the participation of experts competent in the fight against illegal handling of CBRN materials from the Slovak Republic, Ukraine and Norway in order to create and formalise an effective and consistent system of education and training in the field of fight against illegal handling with CBRN materials
• Creation of educational materials – CBRN security and safety handbooks.

During the implementation of the project, in the course of project workshops, based on professional knowledge and practical experience, the partners created a basic outline of the CBRN security course applicable to security forces in general. The recipient of the grant (Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic) through the Department of Detection of Hazardous Materials and Environmental Crime, as well as Partner 2 (International CBRN Risk Mitigation Research Centre) subsequently developed a detailed curriculum of CBRN security courses with a focus on national specifics and the target group for which the course will be offered.

In February 2024, the Department of Detection of Hazardous Materials and Environmental Crime submitted a proposal for an educational project –training course for members of the Police Force to detect and document CBRN criminal activity - to the Accreditation Commission of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic. The Accreditation Commission of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic approved the submitted educational project at its meeting on 06/05/2024, and the course itself was accredited on 06/17/2024.

The International CBRN Risk Mitigation Research Centre implements education and training for Partners 3 (State Border Guard Service of Ukraine) and 4 (Security Service of Ukraine) on the basis of the developed course curriculum, and after the completion of these activities, the course will be permanently included in the offer of educational activities of the International CBRN Risk Mitigation Research Centre for any security forces of Ukraine.
