During the week of 04 to 08 March 2024, the project promoter organized an International Field Exercise with the participation of all project partners and representatives of other national and international institutions - law enforcement agencies in the field of combating chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear (CBRN) threats.

The first day of the program of this project event was devoted to the conference part, during which the project partners had the opportunity to present the organizations they represent, as well as the project itself. At the same time, the participants of the event had the opportunity  to try out in practice the specialized detection technique that the specialized unit of the Police has during a hand-on session. The goal of the International Field Exercise was the practical testing of the newly proposed concept of cooperation of the specialized unit of the Slovak Police Force to combat CBRN threats - the Department of Detection of Hazardous Substances and Environmental Crime with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, based on the prepared draft of a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the field of CBRN security and safety. In addition to testing the newly emerging concept of cooperation and information exchange, the project partners also simulated interventions by relevant law enforcement authorities in the field of CBRN security and safety involved in the project, both on the Slovak and Ukrainian sides of the border, based on carefully prepared scenarios during the practical part of the exercise. The highlight of the practical part of the exercise itself was the simulation of a joint intervention by Slovak and Ukrainian CBRN specialists based on the established Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

In addition to representatives of project partners the event was attended by representatives of relevant international organizations (Interpol, Europol, OPCW – Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons), foreign partners from the Department of Energy of the United States of America, representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in Slovakia and the Embassy of the United States of the American States in the Czech Republic and representatives of relevant Slovak and Ukrainian institutions involved in the fight against CBRN threats, all in the role of observers and evaluators.
