Opening and Final Conference – both conferences will by hosted by the project promoter in Slovakia. The aim of the opening conference is first of all to promote the project within chosen countries and international organizations like Interpol, Europol and IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) and to network all relevant partners in the field of CBRN security and safety. The aim of the final conference is as usual to formally close the whole project and to present to the international community the goals achieved by the project implementation.

Opening conference

On January 17-19, 2023, the project partners organized the opening conference of the project at the Grand Hotel Permon in Podbanské. It was the main opening event of the project, the purpose of which was primarily to share the goals and objectives of the project, both on national and international level, and also to identify and connect all relevant entities in the field of CBRN security and safety.

The invitation to the opening conference was accepted by representatives of all relevant departments of the Ministry of Interior of Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Defense of Slovak Republic, the Public Health Authority of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Intelligence Service, the Financial Directorate of Slovak Republic (custom section), as well as the Criminal Bureau of Financial Administration.

In addition to representatives of the above-mentioned institutions, the Programme Operator of the "Good governance / Cross-border cooperation" programme - Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of Slovak Republic, representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Slovakia and the Embassy of the United States of America, as well as members of the police of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Hungary, Portugal, Romania and the French Gendarmerie took part in the conference. The project partners were also honored to welcome and host the representatives of the United States Department of Energy (Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence Program) and the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of Romania.

The goals of the conference were fulfilled, as the project partners quite successfully managed to promote both the project and its objectives, as well as CBRN security in general. Relevant stakeholders in the fight against CBRN crime were successfully identified and networked during the conference.
